Ah yes one of the worst parts of any trip, especially a trip where you have to pack 3 months worth of your life into a suitcase and haul it onto an airplane. So here are six tips and tricks on packing suitcases and what to bring to London!
1. Bring layers and a raincoat! The weather here in London can fluctuate fairly quickly, so it's best to cover all your bases!
2. Try to be underweight going to your destination! You are most likely going to buy clothing souvenirs, gifts, etc. which is going to DEFINITELY put you over weight coming back home. So might as well save yourself some money on one leg of the trip!
3. Do yourself a favor and buy a little luggage scale off of Amazon! With a scale at your disposal, you can double check that you meet airline regulations and whether or not you'll have to pay extra. It has honestly been the best purchase ever!
4. Get everything as flat as you possibly can! Lay your pants and longer items in the bottom instead of folding and anything that is being folded get it to fold as flat as you can. The flatter your items the more you can fit in your suitcase!
5. Just pitch it! When going home, anything that you can easily just get when you get back like shampoo, lotion, etc don't worry about repacking it. It's not worth the space! Same goes for packing to your study abroad destination. If you can easily buy it there don't waste your space on it!
6. You can get yourself down to 1 suitcase, I promise! I mean this more so traveling to your destination rather than going home. To do this going home is a little tougher since you are buying things while on your trip. However, when initially packing, I feel that if you really look at what you ACTUALLY need and what you will ABSOLUTELY use then it is possible.
